Todd O'Brien has over 25 years of experience in software engineering, product management, and product consulting. In 2021, they began their current role as Director of Product Research at Ocient, where they are responsible for establishing a team dedicated to competitive and internal benchmarks, working with large customer datasets to enable performance intensive use cases, and developing reference architectures that demonstrate database performance at massive scale. From 2019 to 2021, they served as both a Product Consultant and Product Lead at OctBee Technologies, where they delivered product management services for a SaaS configuration startup, worked with prospects to identify configuration use cases for cloud infrastructure and applications, collaborated with engineering team to develop product stories, plans, and roadmap, designed framework and services for data collection, transformation, and visualization, and worked with prospects to define initial use case for remote monitoring of energy storage. From 2002 to 2019, they held various roles at Dell EMC, including Senior Director Software Engineering, Director of Software Engineering, Senior Manager, Consultant Software Engineer, and Principal Software Engineer. From 1998 to 2002, they were a Software Engineer at i2 Technologies, and from 1997 to 1998, they were a Software Engineer at Gensym. Todd began their career in 1994 as a Software Engineer at Lockheed Martin.
Todd O'Brien obtained a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University. Todd then went on to pursue a Master of Software Engineering from Brandeis University, which they completed in 2010. In 2019, Todd obtained three certifications from Amazon Web Services (AWS): Amazon Web Services Developer - Associate, Amazon Web Services Solutions Architect Associate, and Amazon Web Services Cloud Practitioner.
