Sylvia Naples

Sylvia Naples has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in engineering and education. Sylvia currently works at Ocrolus as an Engineering Lead, where they are involved in the development of a product called Detect that leverages ML to detect fraud on bank statements and other documents. Before this, they were a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Ocrolus.

Prior to their time at Ocrolus, Sylvia worked as a Math and Programming Tutor at Forum Education, where they provided tutoring services. Sylvia also served as a Machine Learning Engineer at Simple Contacts, where they worked until February 2020.

Sylvia has also worked in the field of data engineering as a Senior Data Engineer at WNYC Radio and as a Full Stack Engineer at Empirasign Strategies, LLC. Additionally, they have experience in quality assurance as a QA Engineer at the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.

Sylvia began their career as a Teaching Fellow at the University of Oregon, where they served as the sole instructor for a Pre-Calculus course for undergraduates. During this time, they were responsible for writing and presenting lectures, grading quizzes and exams, and providing individual and group assistance to students.

Sylvia Naples earned a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Mathematics from the University of Oregon in 2012. In 2016, they obtained a certification in Data Science and Machine Learning as a Certified Data Analytics Practitioner from RSquareEdge. Prior to that, in 2010, they completed a Post-Baccalaureate program in Mathematics at Smith College. Sylvia also holds a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Mathematics, which they earned from Bard College in 2009. Their secondary education was completed at Stuyvesant High School from 2001 to 2005.
