Megha Verma has a diverse work experience in scientific research and editing. Megha currently works as a Senior Scientist at Ocugen since February 2022. Prior to that, they were a Co-Founder and Editor-in-Chief at the Postdoc Scientific Editing and Reviewing Team (PSERT) at Thomas Jefferson University since May 2018. Megha also worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Johnson & Johnson from September 2019 to October 2021, and as a CAR-T Scientist at Eurofins Lancaster Laboratories from October 2018 to September 2019.
Earlier in their career, Megha Verma worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Thomas Jefferson University from August 2015 to September 2018, where they studied the epigenetic basis of early-life lead exposure in rats and its effects on brain development and cognition. Megha took on additional responsibilities as the Vice President for Career Development from June 2017 to July 2018, and as the Secretary for the Jefferson Postdoctoral Association from June 2016 to June 2017.
Before joining Thomas Jefferson University, Megha Verma completed their Ph.D. at the Roskamp Institute from May 2012 to July 2015. Megha'sproject focused on investigating the impact of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors signaling pathways in mouse models of Alzheimer's disease and the effects of anatabine treatment on memory deficits, neuroinflammation, and behavioral deficits.
Earlier in their career, Megha Verma worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Nottingham from July 2010 to January 2012, and at the University of Sheffield from October 2009 to June 2010.
Megha Verma began their education at Guru Tegh Bahadur in Meerut in 2000, where they completed their X CBSE degree. Megha then attended Meerut Public Girls School from 2002 to 2003, focusing on Science subjects such as Biology, Physics, and Chemistry as part of their XII CBSE degree. Megha went on to earn their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Biotechnology from Manipal Academy of Higher Education between 2005 and 2008. Following this, they pursued a Master's degree in Molecular Medicine at The University of Sheffield from 2008 to 2009. Lastly, between 2012 and 2015, Megha attended The Open University, where they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Neuroscience.
