Atharva Phatak

Atharva Phatak started working at Lakehead University in September 2021 as a Graduate Research Assistant. In this role, they collaborated with a team to develop a Text Simplification approach for biomedical text data. Atharva worked with the CRA ITB team to deliver a Text-Simplification Pipeline for simplifying CRA documents using NLP techniques. After leaving Lakehead University in April 2023, Atharva Phatak joined Lightning AI in October 2022 as a Core-Contributor (Volunteer). Currently, they are working at ODAIA as a Machine Learning Engineer, starting in May 2023.

Atharva Phatak completed their Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Computer Science at Yashwantrao Chavan College of Engineering - YCCE from 2016 to 2020. Atharva then pursued a Master of Science (MS) in Computer Science at Lakehead University from 2021 to 2023. In addition to their formal education, Atharva has obtained several certifications. These include completing the "Secure and Private AI scholarship Challenge" from Udacity in May 2019, the "Applied Machine Learning in Python" course from Coursera in November 2018, the "Deep Learning Fundamentals using Keras" course from edX in September 2018, the "Neural Networks and Deep learning" course from Coursera in April 2018, the "DAT208x: Introduction to Python for Data Science" course from edX in January 2018, the "PH526x: Using Python for Research" course from edX in January 2018, the "6.00.1x: Introduction to Computer Science and Programming Using Python" course from edX in August 2017, and the "Quantum Information and Computing" course from NPTEL in July 2017.
