Pokwang Kwan has a diverse work experience in various engineering and research roles. They have worked as a Lead Engineer at Odqa Renewable Energy Technologies, where they were involved in aerothermal modeling, thermal-optical design, and analysis of solar receivers. Prior to that, they served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, where they focused on designing and engineering microthruster test stands and conducting thrust performance tests. They also worked as a Part-time Lecturer at the same university during this time. Earlier in their career, they worked as a Mechanical Engineer at Arup, where they contributed to the development of reinforcement learning design software and served as a technical adviser in CFD simulations. Additionally, they have experience as a Visiting Researcher at Pusan National University and the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre in Thermal Management. They completed their DPhil at the University of Oxford's Osney Thermofluids Laboratory, where they conducted research on heat transfer and internal flows in aero-engine components. They also served as a College Tutor at St Anne's College, University of Oxford.
Pokwang Kwan's education history begins in 2002 at the University of Oxford, where they completed a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Science. Pokwang then continued their studies at the same institution and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (DPhil) degree in Engineering Science, specializing in Heat Transfer and Aerodynamics, from 2006 to 2011.
In addition to their academic qualifications, Pokwang Kwan also obtained the certification of Chartered Engineer from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers in February 2016.
