Geoffrey Otim

Geoffrey Otim is an experienced leader in synthetic biology and health systems management, currently serving as a member of the OECD GFTech Synthetic Biology Expert Group since November 2023. Geoffrey founded and leads SynBio Africa, which promotes the advancement of synthetic biology across the continent, and oversees the Pandemic Preparedness Project aimed at managing global biological risks. Geoffrey's professional background includes roles as a Research Associate at the National University of Singapore and a member of the UN Biodiversity's Technical Expert Group on Synthetic Biology. Geoffrey's past experience also encompasses work with the World Health Organization, the Georgetown Center for Global Health Science and Security, and the United Nations Mission in South Sudan. Geoffrey holds multiple advanced degrees, including a Master's in Life Science from Université Paris Cité and has completed various certifications related to biosecurity and multilateral diplomacy.
