Kristan Burns currently serves as an Assistant State Attorney at the Office of the State Attorney, 20th Judicial Circuit Florida, since April 2021. Prior experience includes roles as a Law Clerk at both the United States Attorney's Office for the District of New Mexico and the Office of the Second Judicial District Attorney in 2019. Kristan has a background in social work, having worked as a Clinical Social Worker at the New Mexico Veterans Administration Healthcare System and as a Licensed Social Worker at DaVita. Additional experience includes serving as a Human Services Counselor for the Florida Department of Children & Families and completing internships at Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System and the Florida Assertive Community Treatment Team at Apalachee Center, Inc. Kristan holds a Juris Doctor degree from The University of New Mexico School of Law and a Master of Social Work degree from Florida State University, along with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, also from Florida State University.
