Sue Richards has a diverse range of work experience in the energy sector. Sue currently works as a Senior Electrical Engineer at Ofgem since March 2023. Prior to that, they were an Associate Engineer at Ofgem from July 2022 to April 2023, and a Senior Analyst from August 2021 to July 2022.

Sue Richards has a diverse education history. Sue obtained a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Electrical Engineering from the Manchester Open Learning Institute in 2004. Prior to that, they completed a BTEC - National Certificate at the Manchester Opening Learning Institute in 2002. Additionally, Sue received training in various areas, including becoming a City and Guilds A1 NVQ Assessor at the City and Guilds - Sundridge Training Centre in 2005, and completing an IOSH - Managing Safety course at the same training center. Sue also achieved an NVQ Level 3 in electrical distribution and transmission engineering at the City and Guilds - Milton Training Centre in 2002, and completed a course in street works excavation and reinstatement in the highway at the same training center in 2000. Sue's education history also includes City and Guilds 232 qualification acquired from the Manchester Opening Learning Institute in 2000. Most recently, in 2021, they completed a course in Working Safely at IOSH.
