Irina A. Chernikova, PhD, is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Mathematics at The University of Akron, where contributions have included roles as Professor of Technical Mathematics, Lead Faculty, and Department Chair since September 2000. Chernikova focuses on student mentorship and skills development and has been an active participant on the Task Force for the Complete Redesign of the University General Education Program. Additionally, Chernikova serves as an Editorial Board Member for the Journal of Professional Development and represents The University of Akron on the Ohio Transfer Module Committee, ensuring high-quality education programs for transfer students. Previous experience includes serving as a Board Member for the International Institute of Akron, where efforts centered on improving refugee resettlement practices.
