James Roberts

James C. Roberts joined the Ohio Department of Youth Services as Chief Legal Counsel in April 2022, overseeing the Division of Legal Services as well as the Division of Records and Sentence Computation. In this role, Jim oversees all legal issues for DYS, provides legal analysis and counsel for DYS leadership, coordinates representation with the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, and is the chief ethics officer for DYS.

Prior to joining the DYS team, Jim served as a Principal Assistant Attorney General in the Antitrust Section in the Office of the Ohio Attorney General. As an AAG, he was responsible for investigating and prosecuting a variety of matters, including civil and criminal violations of antitrust laws, public corruption and other economic crimes. Jim is also a volunteer member of the Ohio State Bar Association Certified Grievance Committee.

Jim graduated from the College of Business at Ohio University with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, majoring in Economics and Management Information Systems. Jim received a Juris Doctor degree from Capital University Law School in 2004.
