Jordan Argus

Deputy Director, Courts & Community at Ohio Department of Youth Services

Jordan Argus was appointed Deputy Director of the Division of Courts and Community in January 2022. In this role he oversees the Bureaus of Parole, Community Facilities, and Community Reinvestment, working closely with Ohio’s juvenile justice community in their mission to transform young lives and build a safer, stronger Ohio.

Jordan joined DYS in July 2016 as the Southern Regional Parole Administrator. He was promoted in August 2019 as Chair of the Release Authority, overseeing release and discharge decisions for all youth committed to DYS’s care and custody.

Jordan began his career as a home-based clinician, working with long-term foster youth and children in high-risk adoptions before becoming a juvenile probation officer for Franklin County. He then transitioned into education, serving as a high school principal and a statewide data accountability director. He’s taught graduate and doctoral coursework in juvenile justice, diversity, and advanced research methods.

Jordan graduated with a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University in Cross-Cultural Studies, a master’s degree in Criminal Behaviors at Tiffin University, and a Ph.D. in Human Services Analytics from Capella University.
