Lewis George

Lewis George serves as Assistant Director for the Ohio Department of Youth Services, overseeing Finance, Human Resources, IT, and Training.

Prior to his appointment as Assistant Director in January 2022, Lew served as Chief Legal Counsel, overseeing all legal issues for DYS, coordinating representation with the Ohio Attorney General’s office and providing legal analysis and counsel for DYS leadership. Lew has been chief counsel for several cabinet-level agencies, including DYS from 1995 to 2001, the Ohio Department of Public Safety, and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

Lew also has experience as an assistant county prosecutor, a private attorney, and as an adjunct faculty member at Franklin University. He received his juris doctorate from Capital University Law School, where he was awarded the 2014 distinguished alumni of the year, and a bachelor’s degree in finance from The Ohio State University.
