Montoyia Weir

Montoyia M. Weir is the Executive Assistant to the Director of the Department of Youth Services. Montoyia joined DYS in 2007 as a Youth Specialist at the Indian River Juvenile Correctional Facility in Massillon. She has served in multiple roles since then, including Corrections Program Specialist, Unit Manager, Ohio Learn Administrator, and Assistant to the Corrections Training Academy Superintendent.

Montoyia served for six years in the U.S. Army Reserves. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology/Criminology & Law Enforcement from the University of Akron. She is certified through the University of Cincinnati Corrections Institute as a master trainer in the delivery of the Ohio Youth Assessment System. OYAS is a tool used for assessing a youth’s risk of reoffending and matching that risk with the appropriate services needed to avoid criminogenic behavior and chart a productive path forward.
