Elena Melchert

Elena Melchert is an experienced professional in the upstream oil and gas sector, currently serving as the Podcast Host for Oil and Gas Global Network since July 2022 and the President of Energia Consulting LLC since March 2022. Prior to these roles, Elena was the Director of the Upstream Oil & Gas Research Division at the U.S. Department of Energy from May 1985 to August 2021, where notable achievements included receiving a Secretary of Energy Award for Meritorious Service. Additional experience encompasses roles as a Petroleum Engineer and Senior Program Manager in the Office of Fossil Energy, and involvement as Acting Designated Federal Officer for the President's National Commission on the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and Offshore Drilling. Earlier in the career, Elena worked with Getty Oil Company/Texaco USA focusing on field production operations and laboratory analyses. Elena holds a Bachelor of Science in Soil Science from California Polytechnic State University and has pursued advanced studies in Petroleum Engineering as a Master of Science Candidate at the University of Southern California, along with leadership development training at the Federal Executive Institute.
