Matthew Y. Emerson

Matthew Emerson serves as Co-Provost and Dean of Theology, Arts, and Humanities at Oklahoma Baptist University since June 2015, overseeing academic administration including budgeting, curriculum, and faculty management for the Master of Arts in Christian Studies and Master of Arts in Intercultural Studies programs. Matthew has held various academic roles, including Professor of Religion and Dean of the Hobbs College of Theology & Ministry, and previously was the Dickinson Associate Professor of Religion teaching Bible and theology. Prior to Oklahoma Baptist University, Matthew was Chair of the Department of Arts & Sciences and Assistant Professor of Christian Studies at California Baptist University, and served as Minister of Education and Evangelism at Poplar Spring Baptist Church. Matthew's educational background includes a Ph.D. in Biblical Theology and a Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, along with a Bachelor's degree in Finance from Auburn University.
