Tom Beatman

Tom Beatman, PhD, is a seasoned professional in the field of bioscience and education, currently serving as the Visitor Experience Research and Evaluation Manager at Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium since February 2022. In this role, Tom develops research methodologies to assess educational outcomes and guest satisfaction. Previously, Tom held the position of Biocurator at Carnegie Mellon University, where responsibilities included curating genomic data and coordinating the Echinoderm Gene Nomenclature Guidelines. Additional experience includes teaching roles at the University of Akron Wayne College and serving as a Graduate Assistant, where significant research centered on the integration of game design and education theory. Tom's academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Integrated Bioscience from The University of Akron, an MSc in Molecular Life Science from Jacobs University Bremen, and a Bachelor's Degree in Biology from the University of New Hampshire.
