Mats Gies

Mats Gies is an experienced journalist currently working at Omrop Fryslân since June 2015, where responsibilities include reporting, editing, and producing content for various media platforms. Mats holds a prominent role as Vice Chairman of the Works Council for the Dutch Darts Federation since October 2022 and serves as a radio presenter for the program ‘Weekend Nieuwsshow’ at Streekomroep RTV NOF. Previously, Mats has held multiple positions including editor and reporter at NDC mediagroep and Leeuwarder Courant, and was involved in public relations and communication for the Friese Darts Bond. Educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Groningen, complemented by teaching qualifications in history and a minor in Media and Journalistic Culture.
