Jim Ryan

Jim Ryan is a seasoned engineer with extensive experience in digital signal processing (DSP) and embedded solutions, currently serving as a Senior Systems Engineer and Solution Architect at onsemi since June 2010, where expertise includes the development of advanced embedded DSP solutions. Prior to this role, Jim held positions such as DSP Team Manager at Sound Design Technologies, leading a high-performance team in audio algorithm development, and contributed significantly as a Senior DSP Engineer at both Sound Design Technologies and Gennum Corporation, focusing on low-power audio applications. Jim's career includes a notable tenure at the National Research Council of Canada, where innovative beamforming technology for conference telephones was developed, as well as foundational roles at Bell Northern Research in telephone systems development. Academically, Jim holds a Ph.D. and M.Eng. in Engineering from Carleton University and a B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador.
