Erik Coppens

Scientific Collaborator / Domain Responsible "cement" at ONDRAF/NIRAS Belgian Agency for Radioactive Waste and Enriched Fissile Materials

Erik Coppens is a scientific collaborator with extensive experience in cement chemistry and its applications within the nuclear industry. Currently, Erik serves as the domain responsible for the cement sector at NIRAS Nationale instelling voor radioactief afval en verrijkte splijtstoffen, overseeing RD&D programs in collaboration with multiple organizations. Prior roles include positions at CEA, The French Nuclear Energy Institute, where Erik conducted R&D on the immobilization of radioactive waste, and at WTCB-CSTC, focusing on organizing research programs in the construction sector. Erik holds a Master of Science in Chemical Technology from KU Leuven and a Master of Science in Industrial Science (Chemistry) from Groep T - Internationale Hogeschool Leuven, along with additional education in nuclear energy and concrete technology.
