Youngsuk Kim has been working in the data science industry for over 16 years. In 2019, they became a Senior Data Science Manager at One Concern. Prior to this, they were a Sr. Principal Modeler at RMS from 2013-2019, where they were responsible for technical lead for model developments, vulnerability model development, model verification, validation, and calibration, uncertainty modeling and claim studies. From 2007-2013, they were a Sr. Research Scientist and Research Scientist at EQECAT™, where they were responsible for updating/developing EQECAT's EQ risk model, design code review for vulnerability update, model verification/validation, updating Insurance exposure database, technical support for EQECAT's CAT event response, providing solutions for complicated day-to-day modeling challenges and leading research collaboration with academia. From 2003-2007, they were a Research Assistant at Mid-America Earthquake Center, where they developed seismic risk assessment model for complex urban infrastructure systems, utilized meta-heuristic methods to enhance system-wide seismic performance in cost-effective sense, developed probabilistic models to identify interdependencies between infrastructure systems and participated in developing MAEViz, Mid-America Earthquake Center's loss estimation tool.
Youngsuk Kim obtained a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign between 2002 and 2007.
