Jimmy Comfort has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Jimmy started their career as a Project Manager at Skae Power Solutions, where they managed a team and successfully designed and built an observatory within budget. Jimmy then interned at IBM in the Global Business Services division, where they collaborated on an eligibility business rules team and helped create an electronic system for evaluating immigration filings.
Following their internship, Comfort joined the Center for Operator Performance as a Researcher, where they conducted exploratory data analysis and developed predictive models for hazard events. Jimmy presented their findings in two technical papers accepted by the IEEE Systems and Information Engineering Design Symposium.
Comfort then pursued a Master's degree in Operations Research from Columbia University, specializing in Optimization and Applied Probability. Jimmy obtained their degree and proceeded to work at IBM as a Business Transformation Consultant, Data Specialist in Advanced Analytics & Optimization.
In 2013, Comfort joined Google as a Quantitative Analyst, utilizing their expertise in data analysis. Jimmy held this role until 2017 when they co-founded Onehot Labs. As a Co-Founder, Comfort played a crucial role in the establishment and growth of the company.
Continuing their career journey, in 2018 Comfort became a Venture Partner at Meridian Street Capital, where they focus on venture capital investments and business development opportunities.
Additionally, Comfort has demonstrated a passion for making a positive impact, as seen in their role as a Data Scientist - Baseball Analytics for the Baltimore Orioles and their Senior Thesis at the University of Virginia. Through their thesis work, Comfort obtained funding, conducted research, and implemented a water supply system in a rural village in South Africa.
