Tincy Simon

Tincy Simon has a diverse work experience in various roles related to bioinformatics and computational biology. Tincy is currently working at Ontada as a Sr. Data Scientist - Bioinformatician. Prior to that, they worked as a Bioinformatician at SOPHiA GENETICS, where they focused on sequencing analysis pipeline development and testing, as well as script automation and performance evaluation.

Tincy also gained extensive research experience during their time at Humboldt University of Berlin. As a PhD Student researcher in Computational Biology/Bioinformatics, they focused on Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors (PanNEN) and conducted next-generation sequencing data analysis, tumor subtyping, and multi-omics data analysis and integration. Tincy introduced a novel diagnostic approach for subtype identification in PanNEN and performed genomic analysis to determine somatic and germline mutations.

In addition, Tincy worked as a Graduate Student Researcher at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, where they conducted microarray and RNAseq data analysis on mouse Embryonic Stem Cells (mESC) to study transcriptomics and the X-chromosome. Tincy curated raw data, determined ancestral and acquired genes on the X-chromosome, and generated pipelines for data normalization and annotation.

Earlier in their career, Tincy worked as a Research Assistant and Teacher Assistant at Arizona State University. Tincy'sresponsibilities included lab material presentation, assignment grading, and encouraging active thinking in scientific experiments.
