Vladimir Alexiev, PhD, PMP has significant work experience in information technology and project management. Starting in 1984, they worked as a part-time programmer at the R&D Lab "Programa" at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. In 1991, they co-founded Sirma Group Corp and served as a co-founder and programmer/analyst until 1998, during which the company grew to become the largest private Bulgarian software group. From 1998 to 2004, they worked as the Director of R&D at WorkLogic Corp, where they were responsible for overall R&D direction, planning, and project management. Vladimir then joined Sirma Group Holding JSC in 2003 as the Chief Technology Officer of Sirma Solutions, the largest private Bulgarian-owned software development IT consulting group. Vladimir'srole involved directing project managers, selecting and deploying software processes, and bid development. In 2007, they became the Chief Technology Officer of Sirma ITT and later served as the Director and a board member until 2014. From 2010 to present, they have been an Advisory Board Member at Sirma Group Holding JSC. Concurrently, they joined Ontotext AD in 2010 as the Chief Data Architect, primarily focusing on ontology engineering, data integration, and semantic querying. In 2016, they also served as a councilor and a member of the Data Quality Committee at Europeana, where they contributed to setting the organization's strategy and addressing data quality issues. Lastly, since 2009, Vladimir Alexiev has worked as a lecturer at New Bulgarian University, where they teach courses on Semantic Web in the MS Data Science program and IT Project Management at the master's level.
Vladimir Alexiev, PhD, PMP has a strong educational background in the field of computer science and mathematics. Vladimir obtained their PhD in Computing Science from the University of Alberta, where they studied from 1992 to 1999. Prior to that, they completed their Master's degree in Computer Science at Tehnièeski universitet Sofija, graduating between the years 1986 and 1991. Before pursuing higher education, Vladimir attended Sofia Mathematics High-school (SMG) and Informatics Professional Center, where they completed their high school education from 1981 to 1986, focusing on mathematics and programming.
Additionally, Vladimir has obtained a certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute in August 2003.
