Amit Saraogi

Amit has 25 years of experience in business consulting, financial services, economic research and development practice in India, the US, West Africa and Switzerland. He brings to Oorja a strong grasp of business strategy, financial acumen and operations expertise, building on his prior experience of founding a micro-franchise retail enterprise in the clothing industry. Amit’s role at Oorja includes leading business strategy, financial management, operations and partnerships engagement, drawing on his competencies in resource management, negotiation, coordination of manpower and aptitude for critical decision-making. He has also conducted impact evaluation in rural India for UNICEF, equipping him with strong knowledge of deprivations the poor endure and complex social, cultural and political context in which Oorja operates. Amit holds a Master’s in International Development from Columbia University, New York and a Bachelor’s in Business Studies from Sydenham College, Mumbai. He is an Echoing Green Climate Fellow, IDEX Fellow, SOCAP Fellow, Opportunity Collaboration Fellow, SE100 Most Inspiring Social Entrepreneur and was shortlisted for the Waislitz Global Citizen Award 2021.
