Jaap Smit

Jaap Smit is a seasoned leader with extensive experience in various prominent roles across multiple organizations since 2014. Currently, Smit serves as the President of the Oorlogsgravenstichting and holds several key chair positions including Voorzitter of the Advies en Arbitrage Commissie Rijksoverheid and the Nationaal comité Nederlandse Veteranendag, which organizes the annual Dutch Veterans Day to honor veterans. Additionally, Smit is the Voorzitter of the CIO, representing 31 church organizations, and the Verwey-Jonker Instituut, overseeing the supervisory board. Smit's leadership also extends to the Stichting Vliegramp MH17, IPO interprovinciaal Overleg, and Stichting Prinsjesdagontbijt. As the Commissaris van de Koning for Provincie Zuid-Holland, Smit plays a crucial role in governmental administration and public integrity. An alumnus of Leiden University with a Master of Science in Theology, Smit also completed an International Executive Program at INSEAD.
