School Success Advocate at Open School

Sarah Hansell is an experienced professional in educational advocacy and journalism. Currently serving as a School Success Advocate at Open School NW since August 2017, Sarah facilitates an after-school program for high school freshmen, providing academic and social-emotional support while fostering collaborations with families and schools. Concurrently, Sarah has worked as a Reporter for Street Roots since September 2014, where articles focus on social change and community initiatives in Portland. Previous roles include College & Career Readiness Coordinator at Friends of the Children, where programming for postsecondary success was developed for adolescents, and various journalism positions at the University of Portland's student newspaper, The Beacon.
