Sarah Hansell

Sarah Hansell is an experienced professional in educational advocacy and journalism. Currently serving as a School Success Advocate at Open School NW since August 2017, Sarah facilitates an after-school program for high school freshmen, providing academic and social-emotional support while fostering collaborations with families and schools. Concurrently, Sarah has worked as a Reporter for Street Roots since September 2014, where articles focus on social change and community initiatives in Portland. Previous roles include College & Career Readiness Coordinator at Friends of the Children, where programming for postsecondary success was developed for adolescents, and various journalism positions at the University of Portland's student newspaper, The Beacon. Sarah earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Portland in 2014.
