Ingmar Kanitscheider

Research Scientist at OpenAI

Ingmar Kanitscheider has worked as a Research Scientist at OpenAI since August 2018, where they used multi-agent reinforcement learning to train agents to play hide-and-seek in a physical environment, resulting in a spotlight presentation at ICLR 2020 and media coverage. Prior to this, they worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Computational Neuroscience and Deep Learning at The University of Texas at Austin from 2014 to 2018, as well as in the same role at Université de Genève from 2011 to 2014 and at the University of Rochester from 2009 to 2011.

Ingmar Kanitscheider earned their undergraduate degree in Physics and Computer Science from The University of Bonn from 1999 to 2004. Ingmar then pursued a Master's Degree in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics at the University of Cambridge from 2004 to 2005. From 2005 to 2009, Kanitscheider completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Theoretical Physics (String theory) at the University of Amsterdam.
