Michael Chan

Michael Chan has over 15 years of professional experience in the legal and technology industries. From 2003 to 2004, they worked as a Judicial Clerk for the New York Supreme Court, where they researched and wrote draft opinions on landlord/tenant and contract issues. Michael also held a Legal Intern position at the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs, where they arbitrated disputes and negotiated settlements between consumers and businesses. In 2004, Michael was a Research Assistant at the Columbia Institute of Tele-Information and held a Privacy Compliance position at DoubleClick. From 2006 to 2007, they were an Associate Attorney at Anthony Arther and Associates, where they negotiated and drafted agreements for international and national distribution deals for record labels. In 2007, Michael opened their own law firm, Law Office of Michael Chan, where they counseled clients and drafted transactional agreements. From 2009 to 2011, they were the Chief Operating Officer of Magnum Water Technology, where they established regulatory, compliance, and financial controls for a clean water technology start-up. From 2012 to 2018, Michael was a Partner at Melwani & Chan LLP, where they provided multi-national and domestic companies, start-ups, and individuals cost-effective, practical, and creative legal advice and services in Trademark, Copyright, and Blockchain matters. Since 2018, they have been the General Counsel & Blockchain Engineer at Tribute Labs, where they perform general counsel duties and codes blockchain based smart contracts using Ethereum, Solidity, Truffle, Alchemy, Remix, Gananche, React, and NodeJs.

Michael Chan attended the Cardozo School of Law from 2002 to 2005, where they earned a J.D. in Law. Prior to that, they obtained a B.S. in Anthropology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
