James Shannon

James Shannon has a diverse work experience in the environmental and energy sectors. James is currently working at OPEX Group - an ERM Group company as the VP of Business Development, where they assist companies in optimizing industrial facilities for lower carbon emissions through the utilization of AI and X-Pas as cloud-based artificial intelligence solutions. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Emissions Advisor at the same company.

Before joining OPEX Group, James worked as a Consultant Environmental Engineer at Genesis Oil and Gas Consultants from 2020 to 2022. James also worked as an EHS Advisor at CNOOC International from 2017 to 2020.

James has gained experience in environmental management and policy roles. James worked as a Senior Environmental Specialist at Shell from 2016 to 2017 and as an Environmental Advisor at BG Group from 2015 to 2016.

In the early years of their career, James held roles such as Deputy HSEQ Manager at Dolphin Drilling Ltd from 2013 to 2015 and Environmental Coordinator at Dolphin Drilling from 2012 to 2013. James also served as the Environmental Manager at TWMA from 2008 to 2012.

Prior to their industry experience, James worked at the Scottish Environment Protection Agency from 2003 to 2008, holding various roles including Senior Waste Policy Officer and Environment Protection Officer.

James Shannon attended the University of Aberdeen from 1998 to 2002, where they obtained a BSc (Hons) degree in Zoology with a focus on marine and fisheries biology.
