Mauro Santos has been working in the field of biomedical engineering and machine learning since 2007. Mauro began their career as a Research Assistant and Software Engineer at INESC-ID. In 2010, they joined Oxford University, UK, as a DPhil Student, where they researched vital-sign data-fusion methods to identify patient deterioration in the Emergency Department. Mauro also participated in several events and competitions, including the EWH design competition 2011 (1st Place), Dell Social Innovation Competition 2012 (Technology Prize), Hult Prize 2014 Challenge (participant), and Physionet Challenge 2015 (participant). In 2014, Santos was a Post-doctoral Researcher in Biomedical Engineering & Machine Learning and a Post-doctoral Researcher in tele-medicine systems for Primary Care at the University of Oxford. Currently, they are a Research Scientist at Optellum.
Mauro Santos obtained their DPhil in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Oxford in 2018. Prior to that, they received their Biomedical Engineering degree from Instituto Superior Técnico in 2007. Mauro also attended Colégio Salesianos Lisboa - Oficinas de São José from 1993 to 2001, studying Biology/Biological Sciences, General. In addition, they have obtained several certifications from Coursera and Udacity, including TensorFlow in Practise, Machine Learning with TensorFlow on Google Cloud Platform Specialization, Artificial Intelligence Nanodegree and Specializations, Mathematics for Machine Learning Specialization, Deep Learning Specialization, Probabilistic Graphical Models Specialization, and Machine Learning Specialization.
