Mike Beles has a long history of working in the risk industry. Mike began their career in 1997 as a Data Product Manager at Weather Central, LP, where they expanded the data portfolio and distribution through the development of core science and intelligent access. Mike also served as the QA Manager, managing a team of three and adding testing of mobile applications and websites to the testing tree. Additionally, they were the Broadcast Product Manager, helping develop and deliver market-leading severe weather product suite for the broadcast industry. Mike then served as a Senior Software Trainer and Customer Support Specialist, pioneering advanced training and customer support methodologies.
In 2012, Mike joined The Weather Channel as an Enterprise Product Manager, managing all aspects of enterprise data architecture including real-time data ingest, ETL, data warehousing, and external accessibility. Mike directed a 4-person quality control and maintenance team and managed an additional 4-person API development team.
In 2015, Mike joined Extract Systems as a Professional Services Specialist and Project Manager.
In 2018, Mike became the Owner of Atmosphere Enterprises, LLC.
Most recently, in 2020, Mike joined Opterrix as the Chief Product Officer. Opterrix is the risk industry’s most powerful decisioning technology, that fuses millions of enterprise data points with external industry and environmental information. Designed by insurers for insurers, Opterrix leverages best-in-class cloud architecture to visualize, predict and automate essential workflows in real-time.
Mike Beles received their Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1994. Mike then went on to receive their Master's degree in the same field from the same institution in 1997. In 2014, they obtained a certification in The Data Scientist's Toolbox from Coursera.
