Prior to that, from 2019 to 2023, they co-founded and served as the CEO of Brothers in Code. From 2020 to 2020, they were a Postdoctoral Research Assistant at the Universidad de Chile. Here, they implemented the Iris Recognition Algorithm for identity selection and created a database of iris images for subjects under the influence of alcohol. Victor Hugo also implemented eye segmenters based on Neural Networks to measure characteristics such as iris and pupil radius.

Prior to that, they worked as a Data Scientist at BNamericas from 2018 to 2019. In this role, they implemented a predictive model pipeline based on XGBoost to predict customer renewal probabilities.

From 2016 to 2018, they were a Data Scientist at NAVIGO MINING. Here, they implemented machine learning models for predicting particulate material presence and developed a predictive model based on neural networks to predict the percentage of As in calcines. Victor Hugo also analyzed data and used computational intelligence techniques to determine mineralogical and operational patterns.

From 2008 to 2016, they worked in the Grupo de Instrumentación Radio Astronómica at the Universidad de Chile. In this role, they implemented a laboratory for measuring terahertz photonics and designed and simulated Terahertz microwave devices.

From 2004 to 2008, they were part of the Grupo de Materiales Magnéticos y Nanoestructuras at the Universidad del Quindío. Here, they developed and implemented a MOKE system for magnetic characterization.
