James Kelly's work experience began in 1982 at Texas Instruments, where they worked as a Process Engineer until 1985. In 1990, they started working at the University of Colorado as an Associate Professor of Operations Research, and remained in that role until 2002. In 1992, they founded OptTek Systems, Inc. and served as the President and CEO. OptTek specializes in software solutions that combine simulation and optimization technologies, with a focus on military simulation optimization and advanced analytics.
James Kelly has a strong education history in both Mathematics and Chemical Engineering. James obtained their Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Chemical Engineering from Bucknell University, where they studied from 1977 to 1982. Later, they pursued further studies at the University of Maryland and earned a Ph.D. in Mathematics, completing their doctoral program from 1986 to 1990.
