Nico Thirion

Nico Thirion is an experienced technology executive currently serving as the Senior Vice President of Security Solutions and Engineering at Optum since May 2021, after previously holding the position of Vice President in the same area. Prior to Optum, Nico held various pivotal roles at American Express from May 2015 to July 2022, including Vice President of Engineering for Enterprise Platforms and Global Loyalty & Benefits as well as Enterprise Architecture. Earlier experience includes leadership positions at EPI-USE from 1996 to 2014, where responsibilities ranged from managing key accounts to handling SAP quality assurance and project portfolios. Nico’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Pretoria and a Programme in Business Management from the University of South Africa.
