Mary-Joy Coburn

Mary-Joy Coburn has extensive experience in communications and marketing roles. Mary-Joy is currently the Director of Communications at Orange County Employees Retirement System since 2023. Prior to this, they served as the Director of Communications at Greater Los Angeles County Vector Control District from 2019 to 2023, where they managed a team and oversaw community outreach and education programs. From 2014 to 2019, they worked as a Public Information Officer at Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District, where they handled communications and served as agency spokesperson. Before that, they worked as a Marketing Coordinator at First Legal! in 2013, managing various marketing projects. Mary-Joy also held the position of Marketing Manager at Labor Law Center in 2011 and Marketing and Public Relations Associate at Wi Spa in 2010. Mary-Joy's earlier experiences include working as a News and Production Assistant at KOCE-TV in 2007 and a Marketing/PR Coordinator at Olive Crest from 2005 to 2007.

Mary-Joy Coburn has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from UC Irvine. Mary-Joy also has a Certificate in Television News Broadcasting from the Academy of Radio and Television Broadcasting. In 2021, they obtained a Certificate in Executive Leadership from Dale Carnegie Training. Additionally, they have certifications in Special District Leadership Academy from the California Special District Association in 2018, EOC Management Training from the Orange County Emergency Management Division in 2017, and Vector Control Technician - Categories A, B, C, D from the California Department of Public Health.
