Kai M. Broughton

Propulsion Hardware Design Manager at Orbex Space

Kai M. Broughton has held a number of engineering roles since 2013. Kai M. began their career as an Undergraduate Research Engineer at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 2013. In 2017, they became a Teaching Assistant at the same university. From 2019 to 2021, they worked at the Aerospace Systems Research Group (ASReG) as a Lead Engineer for the Phoenix-1B sounding rocket, a Propulsion Engineer, and a Launch Operations Engineer. Currently, they are a Propulsion Design and Test Engineer at Orbex.

Kai M. Broughton obtained a National Senior Certificate (NSC) from Glenwood High School in 2011. Kai M. then attended the University of KwaZulu-Natal from 2012 to 2016, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BScEng) in Mechanical Engineering. In 2017, they returned to the University of KwaZulu-Natal to pursue a Master of Science in Engineering (MScEng), which they completed in 2018.
