Richard Murray

Richard Murray is the Co-Founder and CEO at ORCA Computing. Richard has over 18 years of experience in technology and business development.

Murray started their career as a Design Engineer at Deep Sea Seals LTD from 2001 to 2002. Richard then became a Consultant at The Technology Partnership from 2010 to 2014. In this role, they provided technical and commercial due diligence for investors in technology companies.

From 2014 to 2017, Murray led Innovate UK's activities in quantum technologies. In this role, they were responsible for driving forward a greater understanding of this new sector within business and government, and in creating a UK and European environment which helped companies to prosper. Richard acted as the 'spokesperson for industry' at the very early stages of the €1Bn EU quantum technologies flagship, and the UK industry challenge fund for quantum technologies.

Most recently, from 2017 to 2019, Murray was the Business Development Manager- Quantum Technologies at Teledyne e2v. In this role, they were responsible for developing and executing the growth strategy for the Quantum Technologies business unit.

Murray has a deep understanding of the technology industry and is a thought leader in emerging technologies. Richard is passionate about helping businesses grow and succeed.

Richard Murray completed a PhD in Physics at the University of Southampton, where their research was focused on quantum control group. Richard also holds an MSc in Physics from the University of Southampton. Prior to their studies at the university level, they attended Seaford Head Community College.
