Clay Simmons is the current Chief Compliance Officer at Oregon State University. Clay has held this position since September 2014. Prior to that, they were the Deputy Director at the University of Texas at Austin from October 2008 to September 2014. Clay has also worked as a Management Advisor at Texas A&M University from September 2005 to September 2008.
Simmons has extensive experience in compliance and risk management. Clay has created and led the formal compliance program for Oregon State University, including establishing an oversight committee, developing internal policies and procedures, assessing risk and mitigation activities across the university, and reporting to executive leadership. Clay has also coordinated risk mitigation activities across university departments and assessed high risk areas for compliance. In addition, Simmons has developed the university policy management system and oversees the program to review and modernize the university's entire policy library. Clay also acts as the university's Ethics Officer.

Clay Simmons has a MBA in finance from Texas A&M University, a JD in business/commerce from The University of Texas School of Law, and a BBA in business administration and management from Texas A&M University. Clay is also certified as a compliance and ethics professional from the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics.
