James Strong

James Strong has a diverse range of work experience in the field of technology and cloud computing. James has held various roles in different companies, starting from their early career as an IT Intern at McGohan Brabender.

At the University of Dayton, James worked as a Network Support specialist, where they gained experience in network management applications and infrastructure upgrades.

Moving forward, they joined GE Appliances as a Technologist and later as a Lead Technologist, focusing on cloud architecture and migration, utilizing technologies like Ruby, Puppet, and Docker. James also contributed to the development and support of in-house private cloud solutions.

After their time at GE Appliances, James worked as a DevOps Engineer at CafePress Inc., where they played a crucial role in transitioning the organization to a cloud-based architecture and API-driven infrastructure. James also excelled in release management and troubleshooting in an AWS environment.

In later positions, James worked at Blue Sentry as a DevOps Engineer Team Lead, responsible for aiding clients in transitioning to a cloud-based architecture. James also worked at Contino as a Senior DevOps Consultant, Technical Principal, and Cloud Native Director, where they helped software delivery teams adopt DevOps and continuous delivery tools.

Additionally, James worked at Meetup as the Kubernetes and Cloud Native Computing Louisville Meetup Organizer, sharing their expertise in cloud-native technologies.

More recently, James has taken on roles at A Cloud Guru as a Guest Lecturer, O'Reilly Media as an Author, and Chainguard, Inc as a Lead Solutions Architect. Overall, their work experience showcases their expertise in cloud computing, DevOps, continuous delivery, and container technologies.

James Strong completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Computer Sciences from the University of Dayton, where they attended from 2006 to 2010. James later pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Computer Science from the University of Louisville, studying from 2013 to 2015. Additionally, James obtained several certifications including AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate in September 2015 and AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional Level in March 2017. James also holds certifications from Amazon Web Services for DevOps Engineering, System Operations Administration, Advanced Networking, and Developer roles. Moreover, they have attained the Certified Kubernetes Administrator certification from CNCF (Cloud Native Computing Foundation) and has been a speaker at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon events organized by The Linux Foundation, having spoken at the North America in 2022 and Europe in 2023.
