Panos Alexopoulos

Panos Alexopoulos has held various positions throughout their career. In 2006, they were a Software Developer for the Greek Army. Later that year, they became a Computer Science Lecturer at Mediterranean College until 2011. From 2006 to 2011, they also worked as a Semantic Solutions Architect - Ontologist at IMC Technologies, where they designed and developed knowledge discovery and retrieval services.

Afterwards, they joined iSOCO in 2011 as a Semantic Technology Research Manager. During their time there, they developed the Knowledge Tagger framework and provided consultation on knowledge graph construction and text analytics implementation. Panos also participated in several national and EU funded projects.

In 2015, Alexopoulos became a Semantic Technology Research Manager at expert.ai. Then in 2016, they became the Head of Ontology at Textkernel - Machine Intelligence for Matching People and Jobs. In this role, they led a team of professionals in developing a large multilingual Knowledge Graph about the HR and Recruitment domain.

More recently, in 2019, Alexopoulos worked as an Author and Trainer for O'Reilly Media. Panos wrote a book called "Semantic Modeling for Data - Avoiding Pitfalls and Breaking Dilemmas" which serves as a practical guide for data practitioners.

Panos Alexopoulos has an extensive education history in the field of data and computer engineering. Panos obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Data & Knowledge Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens from 2007 to 2012. Prior to that, they completed a Master of Science (MSC) degree in Advanced Computing from Imperial College London in 2004-2005. Panos began their academic journey at the National Technical University of Athens, where they earned a Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from 1999 to 2004.

In addition to their formal education, Panos Alexopoulos has also obtained several certifications through online courses. Panos completed the following courses and obtained certificates: Executive Data Science Specialization from Coursera Course Certificates in April 2016, Practical Machine Learning, A Crash Course in Data Science, Building a Data Science Team, R Programming, Data Science in Real Life, and Managing Data Analysis, all from Coursera Verified Certificates, between September 2015 and November 2015.
