Anthony Romero

Anthony Romero has a strong background in chemistry and pharmaceutical research. Anthony is currently working at ORIC Pharmaceuticals Inc. as the Sr. Director and Head of Chemistry, where they manage internal and external chemistry teams and helps shepherd oncology programs. Prior to this, they were the Director of Chemistry at Terns Pharmaceuticals, where they led oncology and liver disease programs and made decisions on the research program portfolio. Anthony has also held positions as the Director of Chemistry at UNITY Biotechnology, Senior Scientist at Genentech, Research Fellow and Senior Research Chemist at Merck, and Postdoctoral Fellow at The Scripps Research Institute. Throughout their career, Anthony has been involved in various aspects of medicinal chemistry, including lead optimization, target validation, and fragment-based lead discovery in therapeutic areas such as oncology, diabetes, obesity, thrombosis, and hypertension.

Anthony Romero obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from Occidental College from 1994 to 1998. Anthony then pursued their Master of Science degree in Medicinal Chemistry at The University of Kansas from 1998 to 2000. Anthony continued their education at The University of Kansas, completing their Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry from 2000 to 2004.
