Ali Munawar

Ali Munawar is an accomplished executive with extensive experience in the life sciences and biotechnology sectors. Currently serving as Chief Executive Officer of Pledge Therapeutics since August 2021, Ali is also the Founding CEO of Orthogon Therapeutics, which focuses on therapeutics for BK-virus infection. Prior leadership roles include Director of Business Strategy & Operations at Joslin Diabetes Center, and various consultancy positions providing strategic and operational insights to diverse organizations. Starting as Founder and VP of Research Operations at Novira Therapeutics, Ali was instrumental in developing antiviral therapeutics and has a proven track record of innovation awarded with a Bill & Melinda Gates Grand Challenges award. Academic credentials include a PhD in X-ray crystallography and structure-based drug design from KU Leuven, alongside degrees from Harvard University and Ithaca College.
