Melissa A. Lavery has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Melissa A. began their career in 2012 as a Circulation Desk Clerk at Finger Lakes Community College Library. In 2013, they joined Tops Markets, where they worked as a Cashier/Clerk, attending to customers, handling transactions, and providing assistance. From 2016 to 2016, Melissa worked as an Earth Team Volunteer/Intern at the Natural Resource Conservation Service, gaining experience in using GPS technology and learning about agricultural practices and conservation measures.

In 2017, Melissa joined Manth-Brownell, Inc. as a Parts Inspector. Their responsibilities included conducting visual inspections of parts, managing inventory, and performing quality checks. Melissa A. then moved on to Davey Resource Group, Inc. in 2018, where they initially worked as a Utility Systems Technician. In this role, they audited communication, telephone, and fiber optic lines on National Grid poles using GPS technology and ArcGIS applications. Prior to that, they earned their Associate of Science (AS) degree in Environmental Studies from Finger Lakes Community College, where they studied from 2011 to 2013. Additionally, Melissa holds an Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors in New Visions Environmental Science, which they completed at DeRuyter Central School from 2008 to 2011.

Melissa also has several certifications related to their field. In 2016, they obtained a Hunter Education Certificate and a Waterfowl Hunter Education Certification from the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation.
