Venkat Putcha

Venkat Putcha is a Senior Data Scientist at OspreyData. Venkat was previously the Director of Data Science at OspreyData, Inc. from December 2017 to August 2022. At OspreyData, they led a team of Data Scientists in developing and deploying Data Science products on a web-based application. Venkat also evangelized a Digital Twin use-case: integrating Simulation, Neural Networks, Particle Filtering and Clustering methods for uncertainty quantification, and resource optimization (patent pending). Venkat was actively engaged with stakeholders from pre-sales, through project-scoping, collaborative iteration, and productized implementation.

Venkat Putcha was also a Teaching Assistant at Penn State University from August 2013 to December 2017. Venkat's responsibilities included lecturing in Professor’s absence, holding course review sessions, supervision of ongoing group exercises, assisting with in-class assignments, contributing questions to assignments, exams and grading. The courses they taught include Applied Reservoir Analysis and Secondary Recovery (2015), Well Test Analysis (2015), Rock and Fluid Properties (2015), EMS Seminar (2016), and Production Engineering Lab (2016 & 2017).

Venkat Putcha holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Energy and Mineral Engineering: Petroleum Engineering from Penn State University. Venkat also holds a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Chemical Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli. In addition, they have various certifications in deep learning in Python, intro to Python for data science, statistical thinking in python-part 1, supervised learning with scikit-learn course, intermediate Python for data science, and introduction to R.

They are on a team with Charissa Santos - Product Manager, Tim Burke - VP of Operations, and Ron Frohock - Chief Technology Officer. Their manager is Ed Cowsar, Chief Executive Officer.
