Jessica Shuren

Director, Adult Residential Services at Outreach

As Director of Adult Residential Services, Jessica Shuren manages Outreach’s 32-bed Men’s Community Residence at the Outreach Recovery Center at Pilgrim State, 998 Crooked Hill Road, and the agency’s new Recovery Residence for Women at 400 Crooked Hill Road, which opened on January 15, 2020. In this role, she oversees all daily operations of the residential, administrative, site management and clinical aspects of the facilities. Immediately prior to this appointment, Shuren served as Director of the Outreach Recovery Center’s outpatient and residential programs, where she supervised 30 professionals who provide clinical, supportive, and transportation services for a trauma-informed clinical setting.

Shuren’s specialized therapeutic expertise in the field of social work involves forensics, criminal history, institutionalization and legal mandates – all of which support Outreach’s work with the New York judicial system. She joined Outreach in 2008 as Coordinator for a case management program, providing ancillary services to women in treatment in Bellport. As Assessment Coordinator, she conducted substance abuse evaluations for evening outpatient and women’s day treatment program clients. Shuren was also the Coordinator for the women’s day program, for which she helped increase the census and improve retention rates for clients in the first 30 days of treatment.

Prior to Outreach, Shuren spent six years in direct care as a primary counselor at several residential, outpatient and inpatient service organizations including Seafield Center, Phoenix House, Crossings Recovery Center and Lake Grove Treatment Center. A Long Island native, Shuren has spent the last 10+ years organizing the annual Sayville Summerfest, which attracts approximately 50-75,000 attendees each year.

Shuren received a postgraduate certificate in forensic social work from Long Island University-Post Campus and her CASAC from Suffolk Community College. She has a Master’s degree in Social Work from Stony Brook University and a Bachelor of Arts in Community and Human Services from SUNY Empire State College. Shuren is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
