Lanqing (Frank) Hou has accumulated several years of work experience in the software engineering field. Lanqing (Frank) began their career as a Software Engineer Intern at Outreach in June 2022, where they designed and created a command line tool for an internal service. This tool included features that made calls to AWS and Git, and managed protobuf files.
From November 2019 to April 2020, Frank worked as a Software Engineer at JENOVA, an internship for Valuation Inc. During this time, they built web-scrapers from scratch using Java for data retrieval and analysis, scraping websites such as sec.gov.
In June 2021, Frank took on the role of Co-Chair at the Husky Coding Project, a registered student organization. As Co-Chair, they facilitated weekly meetings and workflows for all projects, planned the club's trajectory, and organized events including speaker panels. This role allowed him to create an internship-like environment for club members to develop their skills, work on project-based experiences, and promote peer-to-peer learning.
Frank will be joining Outreach again in July 2023, this time as a full-time Software Engineer.
Lanqing (Frank) Hou completed their high school education at Newport Senior High School from 2015 to 2019, where they obtained a High School Diploma with a focus on Mathematics and Computer Science. Following this, they enrolled at the University of Washington in 2019 and is expected to graduate in 2023 with a Bachelor of Science in Computational and Applied Mathematics.
In addition to their formal education, Frank also pursued various certifications to further enhance their skills. Lanqing (Frank) completed the "Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter Tuning, Regularization and Optimization" certification from Coursera in July 2023, along with the "Neural Networks and Deep Learning" certification. In June 2022, they obtained the "Programming with Google Go Specialization" certification. Prior to their university education, Frank also earned several certifications, including "Financial Markets" in March 2020, "Machine Learning" in September 2019, and "Python for Everybody Specialization" in August 2018, all from Coursera.
