Zara Perumal has a diverse work experience, starting with an internship at MIT Lincoln Laboratory in 2014 as a Bioinformatics Intern. Zara then went on to become a Software Engineering Intern at Apple in 2015 and a Data Science Intern at NASDAQ in 2016. In 2016, they were also a Graduate Student at MIT Laboratory for Data Science and Decision Systems, and a Graduate Student at MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL), where they worked with Ron Rivest to study better ways to audit elections to improve the transparency and verifiability in elections. In 2017, they were a Data Analytics Intern at Akamai Technologies and a Team Member of the Defending Digital Democracy Project at Harvard's Belfer Center. From 2018 to 2022, they were a Software Engineer at Google's Threat Analysis Group, and then Co-Founder of Overwatch.
Zara Perumal obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2016. Zara then went on to obtain a Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence from the same institution in 2018.
