Jake Orel

Jake Orel has held various roles in the technology and construction industries. From 2013 to 2016, they were a Hydroflight Trainer and Professional Athlete at Aquafly Austin, where they traveled the world competing in international competitions and performing in shows, earning the rank of number one in the world and holding the title for over a year. Jake also headlined Cirque Electrique in San Diego from April 2016 to September 2019. In 2016, they took on the role of Management of Commercial Demolition at Jjo Construction, managing demolition jobs of commercial buildings, holding daily stand up meetings with the team each morning to set goals for the day and assign roles, with the largest project being a 22,000 sq ft HH-Gregg building. In 2020, they became a Senior Director of User Experience Designer at Wridz and a Full Stack Engineer at Software Engineering Applications, where they scaled legacy back end for production level amounts of data and traffic, decreased repetitive query times from 100+ms to <10ms by implementing Redis Cache on backend, split server load between two instances using Nginx as a load balancer, and maintained a sub 100ms response time on server under load of 1300 + RPS by load balancing and caching. Jake also took on the role of Software Engineering Applications at their own Personal Software Engineering Projects, building, deploying, and creating a proxy for a fully functioning photo carousel with features such as Zoom with mouse tracking, full screen view with same zoom functionality, etc. In 2022, they will become a Full Stack Engineer at Ownwell.
