Sam Nicholls

Sam Nicholls is a Principal Bioinformatics Workflow Developer at Oxford Nanopore Technologies since April 2022, focusing on optimizing analysis pipelines. Previously, as a Senior Research Fellow in Sequencing Bioinformatics at the University of Birmingham, Sam developed a leading platform for analyzing COVID-19 genomes, and also held a Research Fellow position in Metagenomics, where software was created to investigate microbial impacts on health. Other experiences include roles as a Visiting PhD Student at KU Leuven and the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, and various positions in software engineering, technical support, and research, showcasing a strong background in computational biology and bioinformatics. Sam holds a Ph.D. in Computational Biology and a BSc in Computer Science and Statistics from Aberystwyth University.
