Boris Shteynas

Quantum Engineer at Oxford Quantum Circuits

Boris is a quantum engineer working in the Quantum Research and Development team. He works on the quantum processor design and develops solutions for scaling quantum devices and reducing errors in physical systems.

Boris completed his Ph.D. in the Ketterle group at MIT in 2019. He worked on experiments with Bose-Einstein condensate in optical lattices and studied the physics of periodically driven atoms. After earning his Ph.D. Boris decided to warm his experiments up from nano-Kelvin to milli-Kelvin temperatures and switch from cold atoms to “artificial” atoms - superconducting qubits. He moved to the UK and worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Leek lab at the University of Oxford, developing novel coaxial qubits and their applications to quantum computing.
